Think of the five people you spend the majority of your time with. These are the people you are most likely to become, or share traits with (this has been discussed in many business blog posts, originated from the mouth of Jim Rohn, law of averages and all that1,2,3). If I had to guess, I’d say most of you would list your co-workers, and maybe a family member or two.
Now, think of the kind of person you want to be. What traits come to mind that you’re trying to work on? Being a better partner? More present in your life? Generally happier? What does that mean to you?
Do you want to feel healthier, look better, get fit, etc…? How about becoming a person who is dedicated to their personal goals?
Do those five people you thought of earlier exhibit these behaviors? Odds are, they don’t. Because not very many people know how to effectively make themselves happy and reach their goals — whatever they may be.
The surest way to become a more dedicated person, someone who follows through, is to surround yourself with dedicated people. And what better place to find like-minded, dedicated people than in a well-established training facility. The people that train here may have the same goals as you, and even may have the same motivations and reasons behind these goals as you may have.
It takes a village to make up a multi-faceted training facility… And the dedicated clients vary in personality as much as they do their reasons for joining in the first place. But their reasons for staying are generally similar. They know that you get out what you put in. This goes for anything in life, but especially in the gym. They stay dedicated because they know that with consistency comes results… comes feeling better, being healthier, stronger, leaner, whatever they may value.
The ages of the clients who train here have ranged from 13-65 years. No matter their ability or experience level, there is always somewhere to go, improvements to be made. You just address one goal at a time. And this – is also how you become a better problem-solver. One more part of becoming a better, more well-rounded person.
So if you think there’s no one at a gym that you can possibly relate to or share motivations with, you’re wrong. The best part about small-business training facilities are the people (as well as the knowledge that can be shared).
If you surround yourself with these people, it becomes monumentally easier to change the way you think and the way you act. Even the way you approach your life. And that – is how you reach your goals.
