Everyday you make choices. None of them good or bad, but choices that lead to results. They are what they are. You alone made those choices. Accepting that you alone are in control of your life and the results you get in life is the first step in being successful in whatever endeavor you set out to achieve.
Take for example someone who is overweight and wants to lose weight but can never seem to have long-term results. They can have short-term success but they cannot seem to make it stick, and make it a life-style. Maybe you just finished our 25-day Spring Break Challenge. Have you gone back to your old habits? Are you now following the reverse diet protocol and working everyday to create the new habits that you started on February 12th? If your answer is no, you have to ask yourself why not. It’s not a big deal either way, but answering that question and being honest with yourself is a huge step in the direction of happiness versus giving it an excuse and not resolving the real issue. If you value pizza and alcohol over a healthy body that’s ok, but you have to be honest with yourself. I would guess we all value our individual indulgences over our long-term goals in the heat of the moment. But when we remove ourselves from the situation and are honest with ourselves we value our health over our indulgences. The key is looking at the big picture and deciding and planning how we want our lives to play out versus living in the moment and not being in control of our destiny. You must control your emotions and plan your life versus being at the mercy of your environment.
So what do you do? Start today, what are your goals? Write them down, list how you are going to get to your goals and possibility seek out professional help to help you reach your goals if needed. Take it one day at a time and build the habits needed to reach your goals. Change your environment if that is what is holding you back. You are the sum of your 5 closest friends. Be the one that creates a positive environment and attract the people you want to be like in your life to help yourself reach your potential.
Make it a great day!
